DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Thanksgiving.  Our family is still eating leftovers.  Most of that will be gone in time for the Christmas dinners that will be coming up.  I haven't had any reports of those who were lucky enough to get their deer.  One of the new Amateurs in this area, John Riggs, WV8DOH, works for the WV Department of Highways.  He said the week after Thanksgiving is always busy for him.  He said that more deer gets hit, by cars, over the first week of deer season then about any other time.  He will be traveling the main roads picking up deer the hunters didn't get, but the cars did.

With winter and the cold weather coming I'll be able to work on projects that needs to be done inside.  One of the most important projects is to get the State Wide DAREN Check-in Certificates printed up and mailed out.  I've been working on the Wood County Emergency Communications ID Cards, so I know the printer works okay.  I just hope there is enough ink to print the certificates.

I haven't got anything else to report this week, so I'll finish with this week’s net report.  If you have anything you would like to pass on to those who reads the DAREN News of WV, let me know so I can have something to write about.

There were 34 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net this week.  Judy Peterson, N8UFQ, who has been participating in the net since October 31, 1992, has completed 1250 check-ins, and will be receiving her certificate.  Jeffrey Hensley, WD4VA, needs only one more check-in to make 250.  And, Rick Sawyer, WV8DOC, needs only one more check-in to make 50.
