DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

I got an E-Mail from Gene Roy, N8ER, the other day about the Randolph County NODE/PBBS RANDWV/ELKNWV being out of service.  He said the last time it had been heard was on Saturday, April 9th.  He contacted Zane Hammack, WV8ZH, about the problem.  He sent me another E-Mail on Monday to let me know that after Zane replaced a fuse holder on the station, the NODE/PBBS was back on the air.

I haven't had any reports of anything else happening lately.  But, I will have a couple of things coming up Tuesday.  The Washington County, Ohio, Emergency Management Agency has asked me to participate in an Emergency Operation Center exercise which will be held at 9:00am.  Then at 4:30pm I will be attending a meeting for the Vienna River Road Fun that will be held this coming Saturday. I'll be spending the rest of the week getting the Race Clocks ready for the race.

There is a Hamfest that will be held on Saturday, April 23rd, in Morgantown.  I don't have any information at hand, but I'm sure that you can find some if you check on the Internet.  But, do to the race, I won't be able to attend.

On Sunday, April 24th, the Athens County, Ohio, Amateur Radio Association will be holding their Hamfest, in Athens.  The location of the Hamfest will be the Activity Center on East State Street.

There were only 30 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net.  I guess with the weather getting prettier, everyone is going to be working outside, getting everything cleaned up from the winter.
